
ONA, WV-After a long spring and summer of racing, the 2025 track championships at the Ona Speedway will be decided on Saturday, September 20th for the West Virginia Lottery Season Championships. This will be the final points race of the season but far from the final race of the season as the speedway has three special events to end the season in October and November. Saturday will see all 7 Ona Speedway weekly divisions in action plus the Baby Grand Stock Cars and the Keaton’s Collision Center Juice Boxes.
Two points championships have already been decided with Jeremy Cooper claiming the LG Pressure Washing Modified track championship and Nate Dunlap claiming the 2025 Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Car track championship. All of the other divisions points championships will be up for grabs. In addition to the track championship battles, all divisions have some great battles to see who will make the top 3 in points in each division and be honored at the 2025 Banquet of Champions.
The closest track championship battle is in the Eco First Street Stocks between Matthew Hagood and Devon Vincent, Hagood and Vincent are good friends and teammates and find themselves in a championship battle that sees Hagood with a narrow four point lead over Vincent. Hagood can clinch the track championship by finishing third or better. If Hagood can get fast time on Saturday, he will clinch the track championship by finishing fourth or better. For Vincent, he can clinch the track championship by setting fast time, winning the race, and Hagood finishing fourth or worse. Hagood holds the tiebreaker in the division based on feature wins. We will be guaranteed to see a first time track champion in this division as both Hagood and Vincent are chasing their first Ona Speedway title.
Jake Keaton and Matthew Parsons battled it out for the All Season’s Powersports Late Model Triple Crown Challenge and will battle it out for the track championship on Saturday. Keaton holds a 7 point lead over Parsons heading into Saturday. Keaton can clinch the track championship by finishing 6th or better. If Keaton scores fast time, he can clinch the track championship by finishing 7th or better.
For Parsons, he can clinch by setting fast time, winning the race, and Keaton finishing 7th or worse. Both of these drivers are former Ona Speedway track champions with Keaton looking to keep a streak alive that has seen him win every Late Model track championship since 2021.
Keith Watson and Evan Strickland have battled it out all year in the Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR division and will battle for a track championship on Saturday. Watson holds a 7 point lead over Strickland heading into Saturday. Watson can clinch the track championship by finishing 5th or better. If Watson would get fast time, he can clinch the track championship by finishing 7th or better.
For Strickland, he can clinch the track championship by setting fast time, winning the race, and Watson finishing 6th or worse. Strickland will be chasing his first career Ona Speedway track championship will Watson will be looking to win a historic 12th career track championship. To add another twist for this division, Saturday is also the Firecracker 40 for the division that will see them go 40 laps for a $500 top prize.
The Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vic division is another division where we are guaranteed to see a first time Ona Speedway track champion. Dusty Harding and Karsyn Maxey have battled it out all year in the division as Harding holds a 7 point lead over Maxey heading into Saturday. Harding can clinch the track championship by finishing 6th or better. Should Harding get fast time, he can clinch the track championship by finishing 7th or better. For Maxey, he will need to get fast time, win the race, and hope Harding finishing 7th or worse to be able to win the track championship.
The final division that has a track championship on the line on Saturday is the Crazy Compact division. Looking for his first career track championship, Andy Ennis comes into Saturday with an 11 point lead over Stacie Watson. Watson missed the first race of the season but has been cutting away on Ennis’ points lead. With the way the car count has been for the division, Ennis will likely clinch the track championship Saturday just by starting the feature as there would need to be 11 cars start the feature for Watson to have a mathematical chance. Saturday will also be a 25 lap, $200 to win special for the division that has produced lots of exciting racing this season.
In addition to all of the points championship on the line Saturday, we will also have racing in the Baby Grand Stock Cars as the division will visit Ona for the second and final time of the season. The Baby Grand Stock Cars produce a high speed, high thrills style of racing and are always a fan favorite. Preliminary word we are hearing is that the car count is expected to be one of the strongest we’ve seen for the division on Saturday with several new drivers slated to make their first career starts at Ona. Indiana driver Danny Trent scored the feature win with the division their last appearance at the track back on Memorial Day weekend.
Saturday will be a big night for all of the kids as well. In addition to racing in the Keaton’s Collision Center Juice Boxes, we will have an appearance by Bluey and Spiderman in the general admission area from 6:00-8:00 pm as kids will get to meet the characters and get their photos taken with them.
Pit gates will open at 1:00 pm on Saturday while general admission gates open at 5:00 pm. Racing will start at 6:30 pm (Juice Box features at 6:20 pm). General admission is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All ticket sales are cash only at the ticket gates.
