UCAR Rules

ANY RULES CHANGES WILL BE IN RED. WE WILL ALLOW YOU TO RUN AMERICAN RACER
OR HOOSIER 790.
NOTE THAT ALL SAFETY EQUIPMENT WILL BE INSPECTED AT THE START OF THE YEAR
BEFORE YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO RACE. SAFETY RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
The minimum age requirement will be 12 years of age. Anyone under 18 years of age MUST have a parent
or guardian sign a waiver. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
GENERAL
A. Eligible models
1.Front wheel drive cars must be 4 cylinder.
2.American or Import.
B. Engine
1. Aluminum flywheel approved
2. Engine must be for make for the car.
3. Header allowed.
4. Cold air intake allowed.
5. No rotary engines or power adders.
6. If engine serial # is altered in any way or ground off, driver will race at maximum weight. Failure to
comply will result in disqualification.
C. Drivetrain
1. Factory clutch. No direct drives or couplers.
2. Factory working automatics. No locking torque converters.
D. Weight
1. Minimum weight-2300 lbs.
2. 56% maximum weight on left side.
3. Any weight placed on car must be securely fastened with number of car marked on it.
4. No additional weight for dohc.
E. Chassis, Body, Interior
1. Full floorboard is required.
2. Hood, trunk and door inner structure can be removed.
3. Doors must be bollted or welded shut.
4. If factory fuel tank is in front of the rear axle it is permitted to be used.
5. Drivers compartment must be sealed from fuel cell if used.
6. Fire extinguisher must be within reach of driver.

7. Fuel cells must be secured with steel straps.
8. 4 point roll cage with bars minimun of 11/4 in diameter is required.
9. Minimum of 3 bars in drivers door and at least 2 bars in passenger door.
10. Any camber allowed on any wheel.
11. All glass must be removed. Lexan for windshield or 3 bars in front of driver.
12. Approved window net is required on drivers side. STRICTLY ENFORCED
13. Aluminum racing seat and 5 point harness required no older than 5 years on the harness and window net.
14. Battery may be moved behind driver provided it is completely covered and securely fastened. Marine
battery box recommended.
15. No made for racing (i.e. Penske, Afco, Pro Shocks, and similar) shocks or struts are allowed. No
adjustable struts or shocks are allowed (Any strut or shock with rebound or compression adjustment knobs,
rods, bolts, or screws is prohibited). Any spring that fits in the stock mounting location is permitted. Stock
or stock style replacement struts or shocks are required. Adjustable sleeves that slide down over the stock
strut body are permitted. No shocks or struts using Heims (spherical rod ends) are allowed. Shocks or struts
with threads made permanently in their body are not allowed. Stock strut, spring, and shock mounting
locations are required.
16. 4 inch minimum ground clearance
17. Any number of spring rubbers allowed.
F. Tires & Wheels
1. 7 inch wide racing wheel permitted.
2. 2 inch backspace maximum.
3. If running American Racer/HOOISER 790 tire a racing wheel is required at a minimum on the right front.
4. American Racer/HOOSIER 790 13,14, or 15 inch tire. 7” wide
5. Any street tire with a tread wear rating of 300 or higher is approved.
6. If running American Racer/HOOSIER 790 track tire it has to have the same tire size at all 4 corners.
7. Street tires can be different sizes but the rims have to be the same size.
NUMBERS
February 1 of the next year. (PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR NUMBER PRIOR TO THIS DATE.) After this
date, numbers will become available on a first come, first reserve basis. Reservations may be substituted in
person, via e-mail, or phone. 3-digit numbers are NOT permitted.
Cars MUST be painted and lettered neatly. Cars MUST look like race cars. An 18″ minimum sized number
is REQUIRED on both doors and roof top. No reflective numbers! Roof number MUST be displayed for
viewing from the right (passenger) side of the car. Numbers MUST be legible and visible to the scoring
tower. If your number is not visible, YOU WILL NOT BE SCORED which will result in a loss of awarded
points. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
The top 8″ of windshield MUST be reserved for DIVISION SPONSORS. In order to earn the points and
awards given by the SPONSOR, you MUST display their decals as REQUIRED

MINIMUM SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
All cars are subject to inspection at any time. It is the responsibility of the driver to prepare their car FREE
of defects and in safe operation.
Driver’s door must be reinforced with three door bars 1.666 x .095 wall or greater.
ROLL CAGES: All cages must be made from round steel at least 1.666 inches O.D. x .095 inch thickness,
seamless tubing. Galvanized Pipe Prohibited. All cars must be constructed with a 4-point roll cage
consistent with the diagram in the current NASCAR Racing Rulebook. Front roll cage uprights will be no
more than six (6) inches from the front windshield post measured at the base of the post to the roll bar cages.
Must go from four points on the frame straight up to the roof following the contour of the windshield post in
front, and follow the roof line to connect. Again, no offset cages left to right or front to rear. Bars must
remain inside firewall.
Drivers’ seats must be welded or bolted to the frame and must be located a minimum of eight (8) inches
from the inside of the closest drivers door bar. Aluminum seats only. Rib rest and right side head rest shall
remain flexible and shall not be reinforced.
Four (4) point racing belts with quick release are mandatory, and must meet S.F.I. specifications. No surplus
belts. Must be mounted on roll cage approved by Tech Officials. Seat belts can be no older then five (5)
years.
Window nets are mandatory. Window net must be full-size ribbon or mesh type. Window nets must be up at
all times while on the race track. It is mandatory that the NASCAR type seat belt buckle method of
mounting be used.
Drivers must be protected at all times with a proper crash helmet meeting all Snell 95 or newer
specifications (with sticker visible and unaltered) and a flame-resistant driving suit, top and bottom, meeting
SFI specifications. Flame resistant under garments, socks and shoes are highly recommended. Gloves are
mandatory.
INSPECTION
All cars MUST meet minimum TECHNICAL and SAFETY inspection as REQUIRED.
The top 3 cars, or as deemed by TECH OFFICIALS, MUST stop at the designated tech area after the
FEATURE for minimum inspection or they will be immediately disqualified.
The DRIVER with the car will be the ONLY persons allowed in the TECH AREA.
TECH OFFICIALS may request additional cars for inspection as requested and or as deemed necessary.
Any driver refusing or not complying with inspection request will be immediately disqualified.
Any car found not in compliance will be immediately disqualified. Disqualification will result in loss of
points, awards, and money.
NOTICE:
Anything not covered by the following rules, abuse of the rules, and a creative interpretation of the rules
should be checked with through the ONA SPEEDWAY TECH INSPECTORS before proceeding. Any
decision on questionable items about rules is up to the EVENT DIRECTOR and the TECH INSPECTOR
and our decision is FINAL

The above rules are set to provide for the orderly conduct of all racing programs at Ona Speedway. They are
intended as a guideline and are in NO WAY a guarantee against injury or death to its participants. RULES
MAY BE CHANGED AT ANY TIME FOR THE GOOD SPORT OF RACING. Any interpretation or
deviation of the rules will be left to the decision of the officials whose decisions are final
