Tire Limit Rule
Each team will be allowed to register 6 tires before the first race (maximum of 4 new tires can be purchased, the rest registered must be used tires). Used tires must be inspected and approved. Then after the first race, teams will be allowed to purchase 2 new tires (or register 2 additional used tires) for each race. If a team purchases tires for a race but does not race, they will not be able to purchase any additional tires until they run a race on those tires. No used tires will be allowed to be registered outside of the 2 used tires from each teams first race.
Teams can also purchase tires from other teams throughout the season, but it must be reported and the tire registered so it is taken out of one teams tire bank and put in the other teams tire bank. If a tire is purchased from another team, it will count as a purchase of a new tire.
If a team misses the first race, they will be allowed to register 6 tires (maximum of 4 new tires) for the first race they compete in, but in doing so the best they can start in the feature is behind the invert which is 5th. In that situation, a team can elect to purchase 2 new tires and register 4 approved used tires to avoid the starting position penalty.
There will be a few races that will be exceptions where four tires will be allowed to be purchased. The first Late Model Triple Crown Challenge Race on June 28th will allow Late Models to purchase four tires and the Marty Powers Memorial Race on September 6th will allow Street Stock teams to purchase four tires. The Mountaineer 100 on October 25th will have no tire limit rule in place for the Modifieds and Street Stocks.
The top 3 in the feature as well as random cars in qualifying will have their tires inspected in tech by new Tech Director Jerry Adkins and his team. The speedway also reserves the right to inspect any and everybody’s tires. Tires will be registered and inspected by the serial number that is engraved into the tire by American Racer. Tires will also be inspected at random times for every division for soaking (chemically altering tires).
It is the team’s responsibility to make sure that any used tires are registered. New tires will be registered at the time of purchase by the speedway. The penalty for running unapproved tires not in your tire bank will be a disqualification from the race. Chemically altered tires, or running new tires not in your bank of registered tires, will be a disqualification from the race, 50 point penalty in addition to the loss of points for the night, and a $250 fine.
