ONA, WV-The long offseason wait is almost over as race cars will hit the track at Ona Speedway once again on Saturday, April 16th for Test N’ Tune #1. This will be the first of two preseason testing days heading into the season opening weekend on April 29th-30th with the 3rd Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever Bash.
The preseason testing days are crucial for race teams that have worked all winter long on getting their race cars prepared for the upcoming season. For some teams, it’s the first time on track to dial on a new race car. For other teams, it’s testing out new setups with the hope of finding speed before heading into the season.
This year’s preseason Test N’ Tune’s prove to be even more crucial with the number of drivers that have switched classes for the 2022 season and number of new drivers. Nearly 20 drivers head into the season as either a true Ona Speedway rookie or will be racing in a different class. For these drivers, the extra seat time the Test N’ Tune’s provide will prove valuable as they look for a strong showing to start the season’s races.
All of these storylines and the fact that 136 cars have registered to compete at Ona in 2022 point towards this year’s preseason Test N’ Tune’s being among the busiest practice days in track history. It is all the more reason for race fans to come out, get up close to the cars and drivers, get their first look at the 2022 cars, and enjoy the thunder of race cars going around Ona Speedway.
Test N’ Tune #1 will last from noon until 5:00 pm on April 16th. Practice will be on a rotating schedule by class all day due to the number of entries this season. That schedule is posted below. All access pit passes are only $5. The cost for a race team to enter a race car for practice is only $20. For more information visit www.onaspeedway.com.
