ONA, WV-Race #7 of the 2024 season is set for Saturday, August 3rd at the Ona Speedway for State Electric Supply Night.  The night will be headlined by the CRS Super Truck Series and will also feature racing in the All Season’s Powersports Late Models, LG Pressure Washing Modifieds, Haunted Majestic Street Stocks, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Car Pro, Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics, and Crazy Compacts.  The Late Models will also run a Dark Horse Dash race consisting of drivers who haven’t won a Late Model race at Ona from 2020-present.

The CRS Super Truck Series always puts on some thrilling racing action at Ona.  Saturday’s race will be the sixth ever appearance of the CRS Super Trucks at Ona.  Brandon Huff (2), Brad Copen (2), and Carson Lucas are the previous CRS Super Truck winners at Ona.  Copen took the win last season after passing Brian Taylor on lap 7 and leading the remaining 23 laps.  Brandon Huff won the last CRS Super Truck race on July 20th at the Jennerstown Speedway in Pennsylvania.

Our last race saw the first Dark Horse Dash race which took place for the UCAR division.  The Dark Horse Dash race will return this weekend but will be ran this time for the Late Model division.  In a season that has saw Jake Keaton take every feature win in the division, the Dark Horse Dash will guarantee a new Late Model driver to visit Ona Speedway victory lane this season.  Drivers such as Mike Burcham, Jacob Bell, and Joe Fihe who have all ran well at the speedway this season and will look to take the Dark Horse Dash win if they don’t take the feature win on Saturday.

Saturday also begins the final four race chase to the West Virginia Lottery Season Championships that will decide the track championships on September 21st.  The Street Stock track championship battle is as wide open as can be as only 9 points separate the top four drivers in the standings.  The close points battle matches the parity seen in the division as there have been 5 different winners in 6 races.  With the points battle so tight, every race is going to be crucial in the battle for the championship.

While the UCAR division has Nick Fowler with a 17 point lead over Jay Workman, Workman has been cutting into Fowler’s lead over the past several races.  Both drivers have seemingly been the class of the field this season as the duo has won four of the six races.  With the strong car count the UCAR division has been seeing, both Fowler and Workman have to avoid trouble over the next four races.  A DNF by Fowler and a win by Workman could see his points lead nearly erased in one race.  Meanwhile a DNF by Workman could see the gap to Fowler become nearly insurmountable.

In addition to racing on Saturday night, there will be an open Test N’ Tune Night on Friday, August 2nd that will see open practice from 5 pm until dark.  The cost is $25 for a race car and driver (includes pit pass) and $10 for pit passes.

General admission for Saturday’s action packed show is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under.  All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under.  Pit gates will open at 1:00 pm with general admission gates opening at 5:00 pm.  Racing will start at 7:00 pm.  All ticket and concession sales are cash only.  For more information visit www.onaspeedway.com.
