ONA, WV-Ona Speedway will combine one of its most popular family events with a special race honoring one of the most beloved members of the speedway family when Putnam County Bank Trick or Treat Night and the 2nd Annual Marty Powers Memorial takes place this Saturday, October 10th.

The Skeens Towing & Recovery Street Stocks will take center stage with the 2nd Annual Marty Powers Memorial, a 40-lap race paying $999 to win and $99 to start. The race is presented by JR’s Frame & Body and C&M Air Compressor Repair.  The special payout honors the familiar No. 99 that Marty Powers drove throughout his Ona Speedway career.

Marty was a former Ona Speedway track champion and competed in the Modified, Sport Mod, Legends Car, Street Stock and Classic Car divisions during his long career. His final race came in the Street Stock division, making it fitting that the Street Stocks will race in his honor Saturday night.  Marty was a huge part of the Ona Speedway family and loved the speedway. He was responsible for bringing countless new people to the track over the years, many of whom eventually became racers themselves at Ona. Marty will forever be remembered for the smile and positive attitude he carried with him everywhere he went.

Josh Way swept both Street Stock features during the inaugural Marty Powers Memorial last season. This year, the event will feature one 40-lap race with one opportunity for a driver to add their name to the list of Marty Powers Memorial winners.

Saturday will also be Putnam County Bank Trick or Treat Night. During intermission, the race cars will be brought onto the track and children will have the opportunity to trick or treat from the drivers and race teams.  Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and bring a candy bucket. There will also be Halloween costume contests for both children and adults, with trophies going to the winners.Trick or Treat Night was always one of Marty’s favorite nights at Ona Speedway, making it fitting that the event will now be held on the same night as his memorial race.

A full night of racing will join the Street Stock special. The All Seasons Powersports Late Models will compete for their final checkered flag of the 2026 season, while the Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics will make their final start before returning for a $1,000-to-win special on October 24th.  The Legends Depot INEX Legends Cars, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCARs, Complete Temperature Control Crazy Compacts and Keaton’s Collision Center Juice Boxes will also be in action.

Pit gates open at noon, general admission gates open at 3:30 p.m. and racing begins at 5:00 p.m.

General admission is $15 for ages 13 and up, with children 12 and under admitted free. All-access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up, with children 12 and under free.

Join us Saturday, October 10th for Putnam County Bank Trick or Treat Night and the 2nd Annual Marty Powers Memorial as we honor Marty with a special Street Stock race, enjoy trick or treating with the drivers and race teams and continue a night that meant so much to him.
