ONA, WV-Ona Speedway officials have made the very difficult decision to postpone today’s Putnam County Bank Throwback Classic to next Saturday, August 8th.

The weather forecast for today made for a very difficult call for track officials to have to make. While every weather app shows rain chances today, every weather app is different with the timing of when the rain will hit and the percent chance. The weather radar and future weather models for later today show a lot of instability in the atmosphere for today.

The biggest concern is what the weather is showing for race time hours this evening. Several forecasts show rain at 8 pm. Some show it at 9 or 10 pm. All point towards a high unlikelihood of getting the entire event in. Starting the event on time is also at risk if rain chances during the afternoon hold true that would create a track drying which would take an extended amount of time with high humidity and heavy cloud cover today.

The Super Cup Stock Car Series will not be in action on August 8th as series officials informed us on Thursday that September 12th would work best for them due to schedule’s for their race teams so they will not be in action next Saturday.

Today was also set to be the final race that drivers could have a dropped points race before the Run for the Title. That will extend now to August 8th where drivers will get one points drop through August 8th.
