ONA,WV-The Ona Speedway will return to action this Saturday, August 20th for Carpenter’s Repair Night.  The night will be headlined by the first ever visit to the track by the Ohio Wheelman Street Stock Series for a big 50 lap feature.  This will be one of the largest Street Stock races in track history as Ohio’s best will do battle with Ona’s best.

Street Stocks have long been a fan favorite class at Ona Speedway.  The class features some of the most exciting racing at Ona as fans can expect to see plenty of side by side racing and bumper-to-bumper action.  Ona’s Street Stock drivers are among some of the track’s most experienced drivers and also some of the track’s biggest personalities.  It’s not uncommon to see fans on their feet with arms in the air cheering on their favorite drivers in the class.  The Ona fans will no doubt be cheering hard for the Ona local’s to try to take home the big win Saturday against the Ohio Wheelman Series best drivers.

Saturday’s event at Ona is the third to last race on the season for the series and will end a stretch of four races in four weeks.  The race at Ona is only the second race for the series outside of the state of Ohio, with the other event being at the Kalamazoo Speedway in Michigan.  Josh Poore took the win the last series race at the Sandusky Speedway in Ohio last Saturday.  Two of the series regulars, Dennis Wood and Sam Bigham, have laps in the past at Ona.  Wood took the win in the Street Stock version of the Mountaineer 100 last season while Bigham finished 11th with the Midwest Modifieds Tour at Ona back in July.

In addition to all of the exciting action with the Ohio Wheelman Street Stock Series, Keaton’s Collision Center Late Models, McCam Builders Modifieds, Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mods, McCam Builders Classic Cars, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, and Snap Lawn & Handyman Crazy Compacts will also be on the racing card.  These will be huge races for all of these classes as it is their next to last points race of the season.  How they finish on Saturday will setup the championship scenarios heading into the Season Championships weekend.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 pm Saturday with general admission gates opening at 5:00 pm.  Racing will start at 7:00 pm.  General admission is only $15 (ages 15 and up), $10 (ages 11-14), and free for ages 10 and under.  Race fans can upgrade their experience with an all access pit pass which is $30 for ages 15 and up, $15 for ages 11-14, and free for ages 10 and under.  The track will be hosting a open practice night on Friday, August 19th from 5:00 pm until dark.  Pit passes for the practice night are only $5 while the cost to practice a race car is only $20.
