ONA, WV-This Saturday, September 6th will be a special night at Ona Speedway as it will be the 1st Annual Marty Powers Memorial race.  Marty Powers was a huge member of the Ona Speedway family; a former track champion that raced in the Modified, Sport Mod, Street Stock ,and Classic Car divisions throughout his long career.  Marty loved Ona Speedway and was responsible for bringing countless new people to the track, many of whom became racers themselves at Ona.  Marty will forever be known for his smile and positive attitude he always had.

Marty’s final race that he ran at Ona was in the Eco-First Street Stock division.  Marty had switched to the class and found much success.  It is fitting that the 1st Annual Marty Powers Memorial will be the largest Street Stock race in Ona Speedway history.  The Street Stocks will race two times on Saturday with the first 30 lap feature paying $1,000 to win and $200 to start.  The winner of the first feature will draw for an invert to set the field for the second feature which will be a 50 lap, $1,500 to win and $300 to start show.  There will also be a $400 Hard Charger Award in the second feature courtesy of Matthew Hagood Racing.  Street Stocks have always been known for putting on great racing at Ona Speedway as this race is sure to be a can’t miss race.

In addition to being such a special race for the Street Stocks, all other divisions will also be in action in what will be the next to last points race of the season.  How drivers finish on Saturday will set up the spot they are in for the West Virginia Lottery Season Championships on Saturday, September 20th.  Several points races are extremely close.  The closest is in the Street Stocks where Matthew Hagood holds a narrow 4 point lead over Devon Vincent.  For the Street Stock division, only the first feature on Saturday will count for points.

The All Seasons Powersports Late Models, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, and Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics all have first and second in points only separated by 7 points.  Those championship battles could become super close or get stretched out heading into September 20th depending on how Saturday goes.  This will make Saturday one of the most important, most intense races of the season for those classes.  The Crazy Compact division sees Andy Ennis with an 11 point lead over Stacie Watson with Watson needing to make up a big chunk of points Saturday to have a chance going into September 20th.  Jeremy Cooper in the LG Pressure Washing Modifieds and Nate Dunlap in the Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Cars have big enough points leads that they could clinch the track championships on Saturday and be pressure free on September 20th.

The weekend will get underway on Friday, September 5th with an open Test N’ Tune from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  Then at 8:00 pm there will be a BBQ dinner under the tech shed courtesy of Chris & Mandy Jividen and then DJ Bu will be playing.  All coming to the dinner are encouraged to bring a side dish.  Admission for Friday’s Test N’ Tune will be $25 for race car and driver and $10 per person for pit pass.

Saturday will see pit gates open at 1:00 pm while general admission gates will open at 5:00 pm. Juice Box racing will start at 6:20 pm while car racing will start at 6:30 pm. General admission is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All ticket sales are cash only at the ticket gate.

All Street Stock teams must go through mandatory tech on either Friday practice or Saturday from 1:00-2:30 pm.  Street Stock drivers will not have to register tires and there will be no tire limit for Saturday, but you must run the same 4 tires for both feature #1 and feature #2.  Any drivers with any tech related questions need to call or text (304)-774-7166 and request a call back.  Cars must be legal to the 2025 Ona Speedway Street Stock rules.
