ONA, WV-The Ona Speedway will return to action on Saturday, October 23rd with one of it’s fan favorite events, Finish Line Concrete Trick or Treat Night. The event will feature a full 9 division super show along with trick or treat on the race track during intermission.
Super show set with 9 divisions on racing card
For only the second time this season, all 9 divisions will be racing in one night to setup a jam packed super show with plenty of racing action. Classes in action will be Keaton’s Collision Center Late Models, McCam Builders Modifieds, Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mods, Rocky Top’s Pizza Street Stocks, McCam Builders Classic Cars, Contempo Trophy & Awards U Cars, Southern Ohio Speed INEX Legends Car Pro, Keaton’s Collision Center INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Chandler Auto Performance Crazy Compacts. In an effort to save time with all classes running and trick or treat, each class will only run a 20 lap feature and each feature will start by pill draw as there will be no qualifying.
Trick or Treat and Halloween Costume Contest
Trick or Treat at Ona Speedway is always a fan favorite. During intermission at approximately 7 pm, all cars will be brought onto the frontstretch and fans will be permitted on track for a special trick or treat with the drivers of Ona Speedway. This is a great opportunity for children to participate in a trick or treat that rivals the one they will have in their local community next weekend. In addition to walking away with a lot of candy from trick or treat, fans will also be able to get an up close view of the cars and get to meet their favorite Ona Speedway drivers.
Everyone, children and adults, are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume on Saturday. There will be a Halloween Costume Contest where prizes will be awarded to the winners for kids and adults. With this event only 8 days before Halloween, everyone is sure to be in the Halloween spirit.
Final Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Mountaineer 100 Tune-Up
On the original schedule, this event was set to be the final race of the 2021 season. However, the national racing tire shortage forced the Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Mountaineer 100 to be postponed until November 5th-6th. With the new Mountaineer 100 date, this race becomes even more important as it will serve as the final tune-up before the Mountaineer 100. With big money on the line in every single class at the Mountaineer 100, drivers will be working hard to get their car setups tuned to the best they’ve been on Saturday in preparation for the Mountaineer 100. The track has also received inquiries from out of town teams coming to race on Saturday to get laps in preparation for what will be a huge Mountaineer 100 weekend. With most asphalt short tracks closed for the season, that could also help bring in additional cars on Saturday with race teams chasing the final races before the offseason.
Opportunity to earn a checkered flag before season’s end
Race teams at Ona have been hard at work since April chasing race wins. For teams that have not won this season, the opportunity to win a race is almost gone as only Saturday’s Finish Line Concrete Night and the Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Mountaineer 100 remain. The urgency will be high on Saturday from these teams as they look to visit victory lane before the season is over. For teams that have won, Saturday presents an opportunity to earn another checkered flag to add to their list of accomplishments for the season.
While race teams look to take advantage of one of the final races of the season, race fans will be looking to do the same. 2021 has been a great season of racing at Ona Speedway. With the long offseason quickly approaching, Saturday is an opportunity for fans to catch some racing at one of the latest in year scheduled races at Ona in several years.
