ONA, WV-The Crown Vic class has taken parts the country by storm over the past few years. Offering a very affordable way into RWD racing, the class first took to popularity in Florida and has now taken Indiana by storm. The class will now race weekly at Ona Speedway in 2024.Crown Vics were introduced as a way to allow people to race affordably. Part of the appeal of the class is how easily available the cars are to get. On track, the class presents an exciting style of racing that is a favorite amongst fans.
For track promoter T. J. Layne, adding the class as a weekly class at Ona in 2024 was an easy decision. “Anything that we can do to get new people involved in racing is a great thing for everything at the speedway”, Layne said. “I was able to watch this class at Anderson Speedway in Indiana back in July and the car counts and show the class put on was incredible. Ona Speedway is no doubt a perfect fit for this class.”
The rules for the class are posted on the speedway website at www.onaspeedway.com. The rules are the exact same as Midvale Speedway and Shady Bowl Speedway, two of the closest asphalt ovals to Ona. This will allow the opportunity for drivers of all three speedways to race at the other tracks on off weekends.
Ona Speedway Street Stock racer Chris Jividen has already purchased a car that he will field in the class next season. The car will be on display in the midway area during Trick or Treat Night on October 7th for everyone to look at.
