ONA, WV-One of the biggest events in the modern era of the Ona Speedway took place on Saturday, October 26th for the Haunted Majestic Halloween Bash featuring a $5,000 top winners purse for the winner of the 75 lap Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vic feature.  90 cars from six different states were in attendance for the event.

Following two terrific last chance races for the Crown Vics, the Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Cars were the first feature to hit the speedway.  Brothers Dale Garrett and Jason Garrett battled for the lead the entire race long.  Dale was able to get the jump from the pole with Jason quickly moving into second place.  The two brothers battled nose to tail for nearly the entire race.  On the final lap, Jason put his machine up high and got alongside of Dale through turns one and two!  They stayed side by side down the backstretch and into turns three and four.  Off of turn four Dale had to lift a little to avoid a lap car down low, allowing Jason to go around him on the high side and make the last lap pass to win!  Dale finished second with Adam Jeffrey third, Randall Cline fourth, and Nate Dunlap fifth.

The nights LG Pressure Washing Modifieds  Air Systems 40 in memory of Wes Smith would see defending track champion Jeremy Cooper pilot Smith’s famed #135.  The race would start with Jamie Womack taking the lead with Cooper right on Womack’s bumper.  The two stayed bumper to bumper for the first 15 laps until Cooper drove in deep into turn three on the outside and made a power move to claim the lead from Womack on lap 16.  Cooper then survived multiple restarts in the last half of the race to lead the remaining laps and take the feature win!  Womack finished second with Tyler Brown in his first race in two years in third, Steve Hass fourth, and Pennsylvania driver RJ Dallape fifth.  The speedway also wants to thank Total Mobility Solutions for

Brad Copen took the lead on lap two and jumped out to the early race lead in the nights CRS Super Truck Series 30 lap feature.  Jesse Fischbach quickly moved his way into the second position and ran lap times that mirrored Copen, but wasn’t enough to close the gap.  On a late race restart, Copen was able to continue with the lead while Carson Lucas was able to pass Fischbach and move into second.  Copen would lead the remaining laps to take the win!  Lucas finished second with Fischbach third, Lindsey Lemmerman fourth, and Brian Taylor fifth.

JR Webb and Brian Nester put on a show with one of the most fierce battles we have seen in the 35 lap Haunted Majestic Street Stock feature.  The two battled side by side multiple times with Webb down low and Nester up high.  Finally on a lap 10 restart, Nester would take the lead on the high side to lead lap 11.  Once in the lead, Nester never looked back as the 2024 Modified Mountaineer 100 winner came across the checkered flag to take his first career Street Stock win at Ona!  Webb finished second with Tommy Rowe third, Kenny Chapman fourth, and Jason Skeens fifth.

The show everyone had been waiting for, the $5,000 to win, 75 lap Haunted Majestic Halloween Bash feature would be next.  Pennsylvania driver Mike Bakalon would get the lead from the start and pace the field for the first 18 laps.  On a lap 19 restart, Ohio driver Josh Sage would use the high side to take the lead and become the race’s second leader.  In a race that saw a lot of Dutch Miller Automotive caution flags, Sage would escape the carnage behind him and pace the field for the next several laps.  As the race got to it’s final 20 laps, it was clear that it was go time for the field.  Andalusia, Alabama’s Chris Salter made his way through the field from his eighth place starting position and put heavy pressure on Sage for the lead with Noah Allison right behind him.

After several laps of battling, Salter finally saw the opening he needed and took the lead from Sage on lap 63.  Noah Allison then moved into the second position and put heavy pressure on Salter!  On the races final lap, Allison was only a car length behind Salter!  Allison could never get close enough to put a bumper to Salter as Salter came off of turn four to take the $5,000 win with Allison right on his bumper in a thriller!  Sage finished third with Michael Basham fourth and Kyle Lafever fifth.

The final race of the night and the season was the 35 lap Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR feature.  This race saw Keith Watson and Jake Burgroff have an intense side by side battle for the lead that lasted for multiple laps.  Unfortunately the battle for the lead would end sour as contact between the two off of turn two would see Burgroff hit the outside guardrail and be done for the night.  On the Tri-State Stoneworks restart, Watson would continue with the lead as now Nick Fowler and Tim Cassidy, who requested the tail of the field, would be in second and third.  For the remainder of the race, Fowler tried every way possible to pass Watson but would never be able to make the pass as Watson came across the checkered flag to take the win and end a long winless drought!  Fowler finished second with Cassidy third, Preston Hysell fourth, and Michael Litchfield fifth.

The 2024 season at the Ona Speedway is now complete.  The speedway wants to thank all of the fans, drivers, and sponsors for making 2024 such a great season.  We are already looking forward to April 2025 and the start of a new season!
