ONA, WV-The Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Mountaineer 100 weekend got underway on Friday, September 23rd for Night #1 featuring Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mods, Southern Ohio Speed INEX Legends Car Pro, Geer Brother’s Body Shop INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Snap Lawn & Handyman Crazy Compacts for their biggest races of the season.  Several cars that are racing on Saturday, including 20 Modifieds, were in the pit area for practice in the afternoon.

The night started with the 20 lap Geer Brother’s Body Shop INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro Championship feature that got rained out on September 10th.  Will Geer took the lead at the start and dominated the race to take the big feature win!  Dale Garrett rode in the second position the entire race and drove the race he needed to drive to finish second and clinch his first career track championship.  Jeremy Dosier finished third with Adam Jeffrey fourth and Aiden Coons fifth.

Stacie Watson took the lead to start the night’s 25 lap Snap Lawn & Handyman Crazy Compact feature with Thomas Bailey right on her tail in second.  Watson and Bailey battled nose to tail for the lead lap after lap.  On lap 13, things got intense between the two as they made contact going into turn three that resulted in Watson spinning.  Bailey was charged with the caution and would have to go to the tail while Watson got her spot back.  On the restart, Watson continued with the lead while Bailey quickly moved through the field and into the third position to challenge Preston Hysell for second.  A red flag flew on lap 17 for James Saylor who hit the guardrail and saw his car catch fire, Saylor was thankfully ok.

This setup a double file restart that had Watson and Hysell on the front row with Bailey right behind Watson.  A series of cautions on the restarts would then see a single file restart.  On the third attempt at the restart, Watson continued with the lead while Bailey got by Hysell after a couple laps of battling.  Bailey then began to set sail on trying to catch Watson with only 5 laps to go.  Bailey would get close to Watson and be within a car length at times, but wouldn’t have enough to make the pass as Watson came across the checkered flag to take her second consecutive Crazy Compact Mountaineer 100 win!  Bailey finished second with Hysell third, Rex Burton fourth, and Tommy Ross fifth.

Jake Keaton took the lead at the start of the night’s 25 lap Southern Ohio Speed INEX Legends Car Pro feature with Steve Hass, Steve Swann, and Tyler Martin putting on a show in the battle for third for much of the first half of the race.  Keaton stormed out to a 3.5 second lead before a caution flag would fly on lap 17 for a Rob Dunlap spin, erasing Keaton’s lead and putting Hass right on his outside.  On the restart, Hass would storm to the lead on the high side as Keaton’s car went up the track hard in turn one to avoid making contact with Hass.  Keaton would keep the car off the guardrail but lose several positions.  Off of turn two, Hass would slip high allowing Steve Swann to get to his inside as they battled side by side for the lead with Swann taking the lead on lap 18 in an incredible turn of events.

Keaton would charge back up through the field quickly and within a couple laps move into second and catch right back up to Swann.  On lap 21, with four laps to go, Swann and Keaton made contact with Swann spinning, Keaton getting crossed up and hitting Hass, making Hass’ car go airborne and hard into the turn four guardrail.  Hass was thankfully ok but done for the race while Keaton was charged with the caution and had to go to the tail and Swann regained his spot back in the lead.  On the restart, Swann held off Cameron Gue in the final four laps to take his second Legends Car Mountaineer 100 win!  Gue finished second with Tyler Martin third, Matthew Martin fourth, and Keaton charging back from the tail to finish fifth.

Chad Bailey put together a dominant performance in the Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mod feature, leading all 30 laps to claim his second win of the season with a margin of victory of 7.7 seconds.  Rick Watson finished second with J. R. Adkins third, Marty Powers fourth, and Brad Cooper fifth.

The final race of the night was the Mountaineer 100 portion of the Geer Brother’s Body Shop INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro’s.  Dale Garrett took the lead at the start of the 25 lap feature with fifth place starter Will Geer quickly moving his way into second within a few laps.  By this point, Garrett had stormed to a 1.5 second lead out front but Geer quickly closed that gap in within the next four laps to be right on Garrett’s bumper in a battle for the lead.  The two battled nose to tail for several laps until chaos struck on lap 14 when Garrett and Geer made contact with Garrett spinning through turns 3 and 4.  Geer was charged with the caution and would have to go to the tail while Garrett received his spot back.

On the restart, Garrett continued with the lead while Geer once again stormed through the field to take the second position back within a lap.  A lap later, a caution flew for a Jeremy Dosier spin putting Garrett and Geer on the front row of the restart.  On the restart, Geer would use the high side to battle side by side for the lead with Garrett!  After a couple laps of side by side racing, Geer would make the pass for the lead on lap 18.  From there, Geer led the remaining laps to take his second feature win of the night!  Garrett finished second with Mike Gue third, Adam Jeffrey fourth, and Jeremy Dosier fifth.
