ONA, WV-The Ona Speedway will roar to life with two exciting days of thrilling, short track racing the way it’s supposed to be with the 3rd Annual Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever Bash on April 29th-30th.  The two day show will kick off the Ona Speedway season with a bang as 9 exciting divisions will compete over the two days.

Friday, April 29th Preview
The Friday portion of the Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever Bash will feature two one hour practice sessions for the Midwest Modifieds Tour as well as practice for each division and then be headlined by125 laps of feature racing in the evening.  The Friday night show is set to be one of the most exciting of the season with Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mods, Bumper Pounding Street Stocks, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, and McCam Builders Classic Cars on the racing card.

For the Sport Mod division, it will be the much anticipated start of a new era for the class with several new race teams including 2021 Classic Car track champion Brad Cooper.  During the previous two running’s of the Cabin Fever Bash, the Sport Mod portion of the show has also brought in traveling drivers.  The Street Stock division, always one of the most exciting divisions at Ona, will have one of their longest races of the season at 35 laps in what is sure to be a great show.  The McCam Builders Classic Cars will also have much excitement as it is set to feature the return of Rick Keaton, Danny McGowan, and Gary “Fatcat” Chapman to the class.

The UCAR’s will have the longest race of the night at 40 laps.  The race distance is crucial as it will serve as a great tune-up for the big Freedom Used Autos Fly By 40 Vores Compact Touring Series race at Ona on May 14th.  Tim Cassidy has won the previous two Cabin Fever Bash 40 lap races and also won the Freedom Used Autos Fly by 40 last season, proving himself to be the master of the long distance races.  All the racing action on Friday will get underway at 7:00 pm.  General admission is only $10 (ages 15 and up), $5 (ages 11-14), and free (ages 10 and under).  All access pit passes are only $30 (ages 15 and up), $15 (ages 11-14), and free (ages 10 and under).

Saturday, April 30th Preview
Saturday’s show was set to feature the Midwest Modifieds Tour but has been replaced by the McCam Builders Modifieds. The Midwest Modifieds Tour has made the tough decision to postpone their portion of the show to a later date due to the weather forecast. Ona Speedway fully supports the decision of the Midwest Modifieds Tour as they have teams coming from as far as Michigan. The series had to make the decision this evening as many teams were heading out tomorrow morning and would not be able to cancel hotel rooms if the decision was made a day later. With fuel prices as high as they are, traveling series are put in a position where they can’t risk teams driving hours and spending hundreds in diesel fuel for a possible rainout.

McCam Builders Modifieds, Keaton’s Collision Center Late Models, Southern Ohio Speed INEX Legends Car Pro, Geer Brother’s Body Shop INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Chandler Auto Performance Crazy Compacts will make up the racing card Saturday.  The Legends Car classes feature the largest pre-season entry list of any class and are sure to put on thrilling action in both of their 20 lap features.  Jake Keaton will look to carry his winning streak from last year into 2022 in the Late Model class while a fast field of Crazy Compact drivers will no doubt race extra hard in hopes of grabbing their first checkered flag of the season.

Saturday’s racing will start earlier at 6:00 pm.  General admission is only $10 (ages 15 and up), $5 (ages 11-14), and free (ages 10 and under).  All access pit passes are only $30 (ages 15 and up), $15 (ages 11-14), and free (ages 10 and under).

Thursday Practice
The track will also be open on Thursday, April 28th for open practice from 5:00 pm until dark, giving teams one more practice day before the first raceday of the season.  Pit passes for Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Practice Night on Thursday are only $5 while the cost for race teams to practice a race car is only $20.
