ONA, WV-The Classic Car division has long been a mainstay at Ona Speedway.  Last year, the class produced some of the most competitive racing of the season, with a championship battle that went down to the final lap of the season.  2021 looks to be another great season for the class.  Here are the storylines heading into the 2021 season for the Classic Car division.

McKinney looks to repeat
Cam McKinney had a banner year in 2020.  He graduated high school, began college, and won the 2020 Ona Speedway Classic Car track championship.  McKinney was a model of consistency all season long and outdueled championship rival Brad Cooper in the final race of the season to win the title.  McKinney, a former Ona Speedway rookie of the year, will look to carry that momentum into another championship season this year.

Cooper looks for a better 2021
Brad Cooper won the track championship in 2019 and the most races in the class.  2020 was a year that saw bad luck strike Cooper all season long.  Cooper was in contention to win several races before mechanical problems or untimely cautions took what would of likely been a race win away from him.  Despite the bad luck causing him to go winless on the year, Cooper still had a successful season, finishing second in the points and in contention to win the track championship at the final race.  Cooper will be coming out determined to get back to Ona Speedway victory lane in 2021.

Hass looks to make championship run
Second generation driver Will Hass had a banner year in 2020.  The Cabell-Midland High School student got his first career win during the 2019 season and came out in 2020 as the winningest driver in the class with 4 wins.  Had it not been for Hass missing a points race, he would of likely been in contention for the track championship.  Hass will look to have another banner year this season and turn it into a championship run.

Stout field set to tackle 2021
When you look at the list of registered drivers in 2021, while it may not be the highest in number, the field is stout as every single driver could win on any night.  This is why the Classic Car division has some of the closest, most exciting racing of any class at Ona.  Kenny McCallister visited victory lane last season and will look to make a championship run this year.  Corey Steinbrecher visited victory lane in his first race last season and is set to do double duty in 2021 in the Classic Cars and Legends Car.  Jeff Taylor had a lot of strong finishes last year until a blown motor ended his season early.  He will look to make a championship run this year.  The Cooper Racing #88 with driving duties split between Tyler Brown, Stevie Brown, and Shawn Kauffer also visited victory lane last year and looks for a strong season.
