ONA, WV-The Ona Speedway will be back in action this Saturday, August 2nd for one of it’s biggest events of the season, the Putnam County Bank Throwback Classic that will be headlined by the Twin 40’s in the return of the Super Cup Stock Car Series as well as a 40 lap, $1,000 to win LG Pressure Washing Modified special!
There is a lot of excitement in the air for the return of the Super Cup Stock Car Series to Ona Speedway after over 10 years. The series, which was founded in 2007 as a replacement to the defunct Hooters Pro Cup Series, will feature the return of full bodied stock car racing to Ona Speedway. The cars resemble Gen 4 style NASCAR Stock Cars. This will be the fifth time the series has raced at Ona Speedway and the first time since the 2013 season. The series will feature an exciting Twin 40’s format that will see the cars race in two 40 lap features during the night. Virginia’s Mitch Gibson leads the series points standings while Petersburg, West Virginia driver Brent Nelson is second in series points headed into Saturday.
The 40 lap, $1,000 to win LG Pressure Washing Modified feature will be one of the biggest races of the season in the class and a perfect tune-up to the prestigious Mountaineer 100 in October. The special couldn’t come at a better time for the class as the last Modified race saw the highest car count for a regular show at Ona in at least 6 years. The stage is set for 40 laps of high speed, high thrills, can’t miss fun for the Modifieds.
In addition to racing with the Super Cup Stock Car Series and the LG Pressure Washing Modified special, the Eco First Street Stocks, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Cars, Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics, Crazy Compacts and Keaton’s Collision Center Juice Boxes will all be in action for feature races only. The jam packed racing card will give race fans so much good racing action on Saturday!
Pit gates will open Saturday at 1:00 pm while general admission gates will open at 5:00 pm and racing will start at 6:30 pm. General admission to this exciting special event is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All ticket sales are cash only at the ticket gate.
