ONA, WV-One of the biggest events of the season at the Ona Speedway is set for this Saturday, June 28th with the One Way Septic Firecracker Extravaganza.  The night will be headlined by one of Cabell County’s best fireworks shows as well as the opening race in the new All Season Powersports Triple Crown Challenge Series for the All Seasons Powersports Late Models.

The Late Model division has taken the Ona Speedway by storm this season with the biggest car counts in years and some of the most exciting racing action seen in years.  This has even more anticipation for what was a highly anticipated All Seasons Powersports Triple Crown Challenge Series.  This series will feature one race for the division during the months of June, July and August.  While the races will count for track points, they will also have their own separate points system for the mini-series.  The series champion will receive a cool $300 bonus and all drivers with 100% attendance will be entered into a drawing for a $200 bonus.  Saturday’s race will pay $800 to win and $200 to start.  It will be a 4 tire race and the fast qualifier will draw an invert for a 2, 3 or 4 for the 35 lap feature.  All of this sets up what will be a can’t miss Late Model show on Saturday.

With three races in the books, Saturday will also be the first race for a new race format for the LG Pressure Washing Modifieds, Eco-First Street Stocks, Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Cars, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, and Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics.  As was announced in the offseason, after the first three races, the format for regular shows for each division (except Crazy Compacts) would see the top four qualifiers inverted based upon the average points earned over the previous three races.  Drivers are scored with max points (25) for races missed and any tie breakers are broken with the slower cars in qualifying ahead of the faster car in qualifying.  This format, a popular and common format used in the northeast, is expected to make the racing action even more exciting.

Crazy Compacts will also be on the racing card.   The class grew last race with defending track champion Stacie Watson back to do battle.  Watson scored the win in her first race back and will start the tail of Saturday’s 20 lap feature per the class rule where the previous week’s winner starts on the tail.  The Keaton’s Collison Center Juice Boxes will also be in action after last week’s 6-8 year old race saw one of the best battles seen at the track all season, in all divisions, between Conor Deskins and Ryder Keaton with Deskins getting the win.

With lots of lead changes, cars coming from the back to win races, great side by side battles, and several new winners, the 2025 season at Ona has been as hot as the temperatures outside this week.  Saturday looks to be another awesome night of racing for the fans with it all capped off with the fireworks show presented by Bill & Lynn Bauer, One Way Septic, and T. J. Layne.

Pit gates will open next Saturday at 1:00 pm while general admission gates will open at 5:00 pm. Racing will start at 6:30 pm with the Juice Boxes with car racing starting at approximately 6:50 pm.  General admission is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under.
