ONA, WV-Ona Speedway management has made the decision to postpone Putnam County Bank Opening Night set for tomorrow, Saturday, May 3rd due to the unfavorable forecast. Every single weather app is calling for a 70-100% chance of rain day and night on Saturday with the forecast keeping getting worse the closer we get to Saturday. Speedway officials wanted to make the call early to give everyone the opportunity to make other plans.
With the race cancelation and knowing everyone is wanting track time on the new asphalt, the speedway has added an open Test N’ Tune for Sunday, May 4th. Pit gates will open at 3:00 pm with practice from 4-8 pm. The later time is to give the grounds a chance to dry. The speedway will post an update by 2:00 pm Sunday if grounds remain too wet to have Test N’ Tune Sunday, so be sure to check the track Facebook page before leaving Sunday. If grounds end up being too wet Sunday, Test N’ Tune will be moved to Monday, May 5th from 5 pm until dark.
The 2025 season will now get underway with one of the biggest races of the year, the Bryce Keyser Fly By 80 presented by Freedom Used Autos featuring the Vores Compact Touring Series powered by Mercer County Electric next Saturday, May 10th. All Season’s Powersports Late Models, LG Pressure Washing Modifieds, Eco-First Street Stocks, Three Sixteen Motorsports INEX Legends Cars, Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics and Keaton’s Collision Center Juice Boxes will also be on the racing card. Crazy Compacts will not be on the card next Saturday due to the packed schedule and will start their season May 24th.
NASCAR Legend Ken Schrader will be racing next Saturday with the Vores Compact Touring Series at Ona and will also be available for autographs. Pit gates will open at 1:00 pm while general admission gates will open at 5:00 pm. Racing will start at 6:30 pm. General admission to this mega event is only $15 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. All access pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and FREE for ages 12 and under. The track will also have an open Test N’ Tune on Friday, May 9th from 5:00 pm until dark.
The track will now be utilizing the May 31st Rain Date and rescheduling Putnam County Bank Night and the Putnam County Bank Throwback Classic paying LG Pressure Washing Modifieds $1,000 to win on May 31st. All Ona SpeedwaY divisions will be scheduled to race May 31st.
