ONA, WV-Officials with the Ona Speedway and Vores Compact Touring Series have made the decision to postpone the 4th Annual Bryce Keyser Fly By 40 presented by Freedom Used Autos due to the forecasted impending weather. The event has been rescheduled to the next available Ona Speedway and series rain date on Saturday, June 22nd.
With so many Vores teams coming from out of town, the decision on the race had to be made today so the large number of out of town teams would have the opportunity to cancel hotel rooms. Heavy rains this week have already saturated even more what were already saturated grounds and with nearly every weather app calling for more than a half inch of rain Friday night and a 60% chance of rain for Saturday, the forecast is just too risky to have teams travel this weekend.
“After such an awesome start to the season with two races in a row in April, it definitely sucks to have three straight rainouts here in the month of May”, stated track promoter T. J. Layne. “Unfortunately the weather is something we cannot control and we will be excited for a busy month of June with a lot of great events.”
The Ona Speedway was already scheduled off for Saturday, May 25th so the next race will be on Saturday, June 1st for Putnam County Bank Throwback Night. The speedway will then host Express Employment Kids Night on June 15th followed by the 4th Annual Bryce Keyser Fly By 40 presented by Freedom Used Autos on June 22nd with the Vores Compact Touring Series. The speedway will close out a busy month of June with the One Way Septic Firecracker Extravaganza on June 29th.
