ONA, WV-2024 will see the start of a new class at Ona Speedway for the first time since 2024. The class that YouTube star Cleetus McFarland made famous, the Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics will take Ona Speedway by storm.
The class is sure to thrill fans all season. With the durability of these cars and the completely stock aspect of the class, these cars present drivers with a car that is challenging and slides around the track and a car that can see drivers make contact and keep on racing. At many tracks across the county, the racing action seen in the class is some of the most exciting of any class. With Ona’s already low grip surface, that combination and these cars are sure to put on a great show.
The Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics also provides an affordable way to get people from the grandstands to the track. Race ready cars are all over Facebook Marketplace for $3,500. Those that have the ability to build their own car can have a car ready for much cheaper. With these rear wheel drive cars, the class also proves to be a good entry level class to get experience before moving into the faster Street Stock, Modified or Late Model divisions.
Not near all of the entries have been filed for the class by press time, so much of the makeup of the class is still yet to be seen until the class hits the track in April. When the class was announced, J. R. Adkins was one of the first drivers to announce he was running the class. Adkins has several years of experience at Ona racing in the Modified, UCAR, and Sport Mod division. Last season Adkins competed in the Modified division where he finished fourth in the season long point standings. With his experience and success in other classes at Ona, Adkins will no doubt be one of the favorites in this division.
Jividen Racing has also announced they will be fielding two cars in the division this season. K. C. Nease, daughter of Chris Jividen, will be competing in the division for her rookie year of racing. Nease tested a Street Stock last season and looked good on track. Longtime Jividen Racing sponsor Shane Mclane will also be joining the class for Jividen Racing in his rookie year of racing. Both of these drivers will no doubt be contendors all season.
Another cool thing about the Crown Vics is most asphalt short tracks in Ohio and Indiana are now running them as a weekly class. This presents the opportunity for these drivers to come down and race at Ona on their off weeks and the opportunity for Ona drivers to run at different tracks during Ona off weeks. One out of town driver has already filed his entry to come down and compete at Ona. Pekin, Indiana’s Anthony Finley who is originally from Milton, WV will be returning to his home town track to compete this season.
The Brody Nash Century 21 Crown Vics will begin their season on Saturday, April 20th with the Delegate Daniel Linville Cabin Fever Bash. The class will compete at every race night at Ona this season. The biggest race of the season for the division will be on Saturday, September 7th with the Country Roads 50.
