ONA, WV-The Ona Speedway is set to open its historic 60th Anniversary season this weekend with the 4th Annual Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever Bash.

The 60th anniversary season is opening in the same, big event style that brought the speedway to its early fame 60 years ago.  Ona Speedway, then called West Virginia International Speedway, was host to some of the biggest racing series such as the NASCAR Cup Series and ARCA Menards Series in the 1960’s and 1970’s.  60 years later, Ona is hosting some of the biggest short track series including the prestigious Midwest Modified Tour that opens their season at Ona this weekend.

The Midwest Modified Tour competes at some of the most famed short tracks in the country including the Berlin Raceway, Anderson Speedway, Winchester Speedway, Jennerstown Speedway, AND Toledo Speedway.  With larger purses and a larger points fund, the Midwest Modifieds Tour is set to have one of their biggest seasons ever in 2023. The series is expected to bring in around 20-25 of the fastest Modifieds from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia, and West Virginia on Saturday to do battle for 50 laps.

The Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever bash will feature two exciting days of racing on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s racing card will feature Haunted Majestic Street Stocks, Sport Mods, Classic Cars, Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s, and Legends Car Semi-Pro. After the races on Friday night there will be a post race pit party and concert by Ultra Sound that all Friday ticket holders are invited too. Saturday’s racing card will feature the Midwest Modifieds Tour, All Season’s Powersports Late Models, Haunted Majestic Street Stocks, Legends Car Pro, and Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s.

It will be a big weekend for the Haunted Majestic Street Stocks and Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s as they will compete in their first of two double down weekends of the season where the classes will be in action on both Friday and Saturday. The Street Stocks will be racing for a $500 bonus courtesy of Larry Adkins the King of Karaoke and Fly In Café for any driver that can win both Friday and Saturday.

For all classes except for the Modifieds, it will be their first points races of the season. Success this weekend can set a driver up good for their 2023 championship hunt while a bad weekend can start a driver in a hole in chasing the championship. After such a long offseason, all drivers will be aiming to claim the first checkered flag of the sesason

Friday will see pit gates open at 11:00 am, general admission gates open at 5:00 pm, and racing at 7:00 pm. General admission is only $10 for ages 13 and up while ages 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and free for ages 12 and under.

Saturday will see pit gates open at noon, general admission gates open at 4:30 pm, and racing at 6:30 pm. General admission is only $20 for ages 13 and up while ages 12 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for ages 13 and up and free for ages 12 and under. Track management wants to note that admission prices have seen a slight increase due to the track lease increasing 200% for facility maintenance.
