ONA, WV-The biggest racing weekend of the summer will take place at the Ona Speedway this Friday and Saturday, July 15th-16th with the 3rd Annual Yes Chevrolet/Yes Ford Cabin Fever Bash.  This will be the second of three two-day shows this season and will be headlined by the return of one of America’s premier short track series, the Midwest Modifieds Tour.

The Midwest Modifieds Tour will be in action on both days of the two day event.  Friday will see the tour take to the track from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm for open practice before Ona’s weekly divisions take to the track for racing that evening.  Saturday will feature round #6 for the Midwest Modifieds Tour with a full program of practice, time trials, last chance qualifier race, and the 50 lap feature.  A strong field of cars is expected to be in attendance with cars coming from as far as Michigan.  Last season, 25 cars were in attendance when the tour came to Ona with Brad Yelton taking the big feature win.

The battle atop the point standings in the Midwest Modifieds Tour is a tight one as Walt Obrinske Jr. holds a narrow 8 point lead over Jeff Ganus.  2021 Mountaineer 100 winner Matt Dimit currently sits third while Michigan’s Buddy Gray sits fourth.  Aaron Taylor rounds out the top five.  Ona Speedway track promoter Thomas Mays, who will make his only start of the season at Ona this weekend with the Midwest Modifieds Tour, currently sits 23rd in point standings.  In addition to Mays, Ona Speedway drivers Jeremy Cooper, Andy Booten, Wes Smith, and Andy Shutts have all made starts with the Midwest Modifieds Tour this season.

This weekend will feature two very exciting nights of can’t miss racing action.  Friday will feature an exciting 4 division program of Bumper Pounding Street Stocks, Greg Chandler Frame & Body Sport Mods, McCam Builders Classic Cars, and Contempo Trophy & Awards UCAR’s.  Pit gates will open at 1 pm with general admission gates opening at 5:00 pm and racing starting at 7:00 pm.  There will also be a free post race concert after the races on Friday by Burning Ridge.  General admission Friday is only $10 for ages 15 and up, $5 for ages 11-14, and free for ages 10 and under.  All access pit passes are $30 for ages 15 and up, $15 for ages 11-14, and free for ages 10 and under.

Saturday, July 16th will feature a full program for the Midwest Modifieds Tour, Keaton’s Collision Center Late Models, Southern Ohio Speed INEX Legends Car Pro, Geer Brother’s Body Shop INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Snap Lawn & Handyman Service Crazy Compacts.  Pit gates will open at noon with general admission gates opening at 4:00 pm and racing at 6:00 pm. General admission Saturday is only $15 for ages 15 and up, $10 for ages 11-14, and free for ages 10 and under.  All access pit passes are $30 for ages 15 and up, $15 for ages 11-14, and free for ages 10 and under.

This weekend’s action will be non-points races for all Ona Speedway divisions.  This event was normally scheduled for April as weather postponed it to this new July date that wasn’t originally on the Ona schedule.  This should make the racing action all that more exciting for the Ona divisions as drivers will only be worrying about one thing, chasing that checkered flag at the end of the night without the pressure of the point standings.  For the drivers in hotly contested points battles, it will be an opportunity for them to test setups and be even more prepared for the final stretch in the battle for the track champoinship’s that begins on July 23rd.
